This is the first design I did for a client. It's a double sided "loyalty" card. The company's name is Tex-Star, hence the design.
However, the client didn't like it. He wanted an "Australian theme". The second design was created in 20 minutes... I was a little pissed off after a long day, but it goes to show that it's possible for me to work quickly :P

Resurrection
It's been a bit more than "a couple of days". Things have happened. No need to dwelve deeper. I won't be doing the challenge anymore, but I did enjoy having this "project" so I will be continuing with small designs. However, I won't be doing one daily. Instead, I'll take the pace a notch down and I'll do 1 design per week. I'll have more time to think of an idea and more time to actually create the pieces.

Break
Unfortunately I wont be able to post for the next couple of days. I will try to create something everyday, but I'll have to post it all in one go when I get back. :(

13 - Ice and Snow
Our trip to the shops ended as soon as we reached the car. To best describe "Why?", here's a little illustration.
Of course, it's just a cross section of what we found ;) If I were to illustrate what we saw, then you'd be looking at a white blob.
Between the snow and the car there was a layer of ice. Like a mould of our little 206. To get in, I had to chip away the outline of the door.

11 - Dead Man Walking
I'm 4 posts behind and am having trouble finding ideas. I came up with this one a long time ago, but never found a purpose for it. While in the car I saw people walking across one of my home town's busiest streets. The only problem was that they didn't use the zebra crossings which are placed at regular intervals.
The application of the idea may not be what I'd had "envisioned" but I'm not gonna spend a whole day on it. Maybe some other time. (...and when/if that happens I wont be using stock images ;)

9 - Tea (on tour via iPhone)
Original post: "We're on our way to Warsaw. The only piece of "equipment" that could possibly help me create a design is an iPhone. I'm not sure how this will turn out, but I'm going to treat this more as an experiment if anything".
Extra stuff: I'm back at home. The post above is to say the least, terrible :D The original photo looked better than this "attempt". Also, I spent two days trying to post this on blogspot. Of course, I used every trick in the book to try and fool blogspot, gmail and the iPhone into sending an attachment, but it turned out I was the bigger fool ;) All I had to do was ask the owner of the iPhone, my wife, how to send a photo via email. Long story short... I'm an idiot.
Today, I have to do two designs, since I'm one behind. I gave up trying to do anything on the iPhone while I was away.

3 - Logo for Calisia Airlines
A quick logo for a made-up airline. The fleur-de-lis is too close to the type and is a little too dominating.

1 - Xmas Card
Have to start somewhere, right? Here's a simple Christmas card. I won't go into detail because it's late and I still have to make cocoa for my wife. That's my logo, by the way ;)

The challenge
Anyone who knows Smashing Magazine, knows that they know their shit. I've had it on my RSS list for a short time, but in that short time I've managed to embrace their artsy/weby warmth.
Two days ago they published an article where they "challenge to design something daily".
I'm a lazy bastard. I get sidetracked very easily. For example, I have 3 websites due ASAP and I should be finishing them off. Instead I'm clearing my RSS and starting this blog. I'm hoping that this "challenge" will be more like therapy than anything else. I know I can manage to find 30 minutes a day to design something. I just hope I won't forget... or rather, I will learn to remember.
Since it's December 24th, probably the most important day in the Polish calendar, it's gonna be a bit tricky, but I think I'll be able to whip-up a Christmas Card. It's a start. It has a purpose. Also, I can send it to my clients... if it's good enough.
